All about Katniss

Katniss's life in District 12 is going to get a lot more interesting. The sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen has a hard life already in her district such as facing hunger, money issues, and the looming threat of the Reaping. When she goes to town square for the district's Reaping, she gets nervous. Her sister, Prim, still has a chance to get called, but Katniss promises her it won't happen. As Effie Trinket calls "Primrose Everdeen!" everything changes. Katniss volunteers as tribute and her life changes. She gets handed a pin from Madge as a symbol of friendship, later a symbol of rebellion. The mockingjay is also a symbol of hope that Katniss will come home and win, for Prim.
