Could The Hunger Games Actually Happen?

Putting children and young adults in an arena to fight to the death hasn't happened yet...but the books show how much power the government has over the people in the Districs. Every year the Capitol reminds the District people that they are being ruled and controlled. They remind the people when they stood up against the Capitol years ago, and what happens when you step out of line. Well,put it this way, more people will die. The struggle against the Capitol is real, and Katniss and Peeta are going to be the beginning...

    I believe it could, it's one of the government's many ways of showing how much power they have over you, I wouldn't be too surprised if it did happen.
